The Stinson Beach Community Presbyterian Church places its emphasis on community, to those who live in Stinson, and hospitality, to those who visit. The church was first organized in 1931. The Community Chapel was designed by architect Oran Jenkins, built by volunteer labor, and dedicated in 1962. Through much of its life it has been served by ministerial students from the San Francisco Theological Seminary. 

 

Stinson Beach is a vibrant small town offering rest and recreation; dining in the town's several restaurants and snack spots; music; picnics in the state park; all that a beach offers: walking, running, surfing, swimming, and relaxing; hiking in the hills of Mt. Tamalpais behind the town.  It is home to those who live here, and a temporary home to those who visit. Our church takes its place amidst all of this activity, natural beauty, and wonder.

 

Here, as the old hymn says, we can seek the comfort that  " All is well with my soul. "  We look outward from our church and town over the ocean and mountains, and upward, as Psalm 103 proclaims,  " as high as the heavens are above the earth . . . as far as the east is from the west, " and know the magnitude of God's gifts to us, all around us and with each other.

Worship here is "come as you are" casual, and more or less traditional, with hymns, Scriptures, and a sermon. As Christians, we are seekers in following Jesus as best as we can. At our individual paces, we welcome love and God's grace more and more into our lives, and then try to share that peace and love and grace with others. This is the sharing of our community and hospitality.

As in times spent elsewhere at Stinson Beach itself, our worship is fun, in that there is sharing togetherness and joys. It can be heartfelt as well, when we share our need for prayer and support in our lives. We hope your experience of our worship is a full, authentic, and enriching expression of our lives together as diverse people who will realize that we are all beloved by God. Everyone. Without exception. Here in Stinson Beach and in the world beyond.
